Learn the art of Stained Glass and Glass Mosaics and create your own unique and beautiful designs
A mosaic is a piece of art made from the assemblage of small pieces of colored glass, stone, or other materials. It is often used in decorative art or as interior decoration. Most mosaics are made of small, flat, roughly square, pieces of stone or glass of different colors, known as tesserae. In our workshops we focus on glass mosaics using colored glass and mixed media.
Our Stained Glass workshops are unique in the ACT as we use a special technique (Glass Magic) that does not require cutting glass. Please select the links/tabs below to find out more .
Stained Glass (Glass Magic) is the fun and easy method of creating stained glass requiring only a few simple tools to make beautiful panels which look so like traditional stained & leaded glass you’ll find it hard to tell the difference. It is a process that gives much more scope for patterns and designs not possible with lead light construction.
Stained glass panels are actually much stronger and more resilient that leadlight because the glass is not cut but stained in situ. The process is simple and only takes a couple of days (or only one if your project is small). Have a look at the process steps below. Glass Mosaic is a traditional mosaic made with pieces of glass, used to embellish decorative art, structures, and furniture. Glass mosaic is typically divided into two subcategories, hman gyan si and hman nu si. The former is typically used to decorate the walls and ceilings, while the latter is used to embellish furniture and accessories. The art form originated in the 1500s. Glass mosaic is often studded with gems and semi-precious stones.

STAINED GLASS Workshop
Workshop Details:
4-5 hours
Course Contents:
- Design your mirror or glass panel (adjusting size and ensuring the design is compatible for staining)
- Apply design to glass
- Apply self adhesive lead to design (cutting and rolling lead)
- Solder all lead joints
- Clean glass and patina lead
- Mix stain colours
- Apply stain to glass
All materials will be supplied as part of the course. Tea and coffee also supplied.
$320.00 per person (max 6 participants per course)

GLASS MOSAIC Workshop
Workshop Details:
Three Saturdays from 9.30 AM to 5.00 PM
Course Contents:
- Understand the many different types and styles of mosaics and the materials involved
- Design your mosaic (on board or terracotta pot)
- Transfer design to surface of article to be mosaic-ed
- Use glass cutters and other tools confidently
- Apply your mosaics
- Grout and polish your mosaics
All materials will be supplied as part of the course. Tea and coffee also supplied.
$350.00 per person (max 6 participants per course)
